Dear Colleagues

The USZ is looking forward to hosting the annual meeting of the Swiss Society of Perfusion this year and has taken the opportunity to organize the two events – TEAM (Technology of Extracorporeal Assist Meeting) and the annual meeting of SSoP – in cooperation. The annual meeting and the further training of the SSoP takes place on Saturday, guests of the TEAM-Meeting are greatly welcome. On Sunday, only TEAM takes place, whereby members of the SSoP are welcome.

In this meeting, we are looking forward to discussing our daily grind; Extracorporeal Circulation (ECC), Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) for patients with different viewpoints. This meeting is in direct collaboration with our professional partners, such as Cardiac Surgeons, Fellow Perfusionists, Intensivists, Cardiologists and Anesthesiologists.

The main goal of this meeting will be to discuss the multidisciplinary strategies to deal with Mechanical Circulatory Assist (MCS) patients and will be the first of its kind. With the growing trend in MCS therapy, patient”s quality of life and their functionality are becoming profoundly better.  This is something which the conventional treatments cannot offer. Until recently, the interdisciplinary communication was significantly ignored at the clinical level and is now becoming the main goal. Multidisciplinary approach to the heart failure is currently the primary focus in many heart centers.

It is quite clear that the road to success in this fascinating field is linking the interaction between different disciplines at the national and international level. The purpose of the upcoming multidisciplinary team is to provide Perfusionists, Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Intensivists and Cardiologists with several examples of collective modes of dealing with heart and / or lung failure patients.

We are sure that this meeting is going to be an interesting and a memorable one, and we are also confident that YOU, the different clinical specialists across the country are going to make it a grand success.

We are looking forward to meeting you in Zurich!
